Perkins, Adding Content to KP, Testimonials, Ecuador and Flipped Learning: KP COVID-19 Week 7

Hello Online Teachers,
It’s hard to believe it’s May but we are happy to hear how we helped you teach online like an expert.  In this newsletter I will share a new feature and some reviews..

Perkins and CAPE Funds in FL

We are getting a lot of inquiries about funding and grants.  Our program has been funded a majority of the time using Perkins, 21st century, and distance learning grants.  If you live in Florida a new grant started last year called CAPE funds which is used for programs that have certifications.  I’m unaware of any specialized grants in other states but if you know what they are, please let us know.

Easily Add content to KP to use AI and gamification

One of the most powerful things you can do with KP is add your own content to access the mastery system, gamification and use the AI system.  If you already have websites, online slides, and videos, you can create a module in minutes.  Here’s a short video on how to use 2 of our most used tools, weblink and embed. https://youtu.be/NsuFxCSuofk
Next week, making your own projects for PBL.

KP Fun Fact #3 Origins of KP Systems

KP Systems originally started as a project to help train employees techniques and recipes in 2005 but pivoted in 2007 when education showed extreme interest in our potential.  We took the framework and went on to help Home-ec Teachers train students in Culinary Arts.
KP stands for Knowledge in Practice but that’s not how we came up with that name at first.  Some of you in the military would recognize KP for something else.

Hello from Ecuador

During the stay at home order we had many schools contact us around the world.  One is from Ecuador.  This is what they wrote about KP.
“Su plataforma de aprendizaje es increíble, muy buen contenido el sistema de evaluación es excelente para afianzar el conocimiento.” Alfredo Salazar from La Universidad de las Américas

Write a Review and Help KP

We’ve always used word of mouth as our primary marketing tool because who would you believe, a fellow educator or a crazy Asian guy saying flipped learning is the future?
It’s very hard to believe that our “system” does what it does well unless you experience it because all of us have suffered through terrible online learning systems so how can this tiny company make something billion dollar companies aren’t doing.  Well it is because we are small and driven so we can make crazy decisions and try new things based on the latest education research.
We never used online as a way to market so prior to last week we had ZERO reviews on our social sites.  If you used our program with our students please leave a review on our Facebook and Google page.  And yes, the google page will show a picture of my front yard and old 2000 Jetta diesel, but I still get 45 MPG!
Here are a few excerpts
  • “This program is very in depth yet user friendly. The material covered meets DOE standards and can be integrated easily into any curriculum. We have seen much success with our students using KP. I look forward to making it part of our curriculum going forward. If you haven’t explored KP, you really should!” - Brad Nehrt
  • “Once I got in the system, with the amazing support and training I feel like a pro! My students are performing better than they were before the distance learning began, even my struggling students!“ - Cody Mooneyhan
  • “How many times have you purchased something only to find out that customer service is horrible? Well, not with KP curriculum.” Sandra Solger
Please share your success with KP’s System.

What is flipped learning?

You might have heard this term but never thought it would apply to you.  I have been speaking about flipped learning since 2009 at conferences.  It’s basically a way to get students to learn the core material at home so you get to spend more time in labs and quality 1 on 1 time.  It’s perfect for CTE because you won’t need to spend time lecturing or demonstrating a technique but instead let digital resources do that.  For me, flipped learning is more than just giving students powerpoints and videos but creating a way to engage them while learning at home.

KP Education has been a literal life saver for us during this pandemic. My students are performing better than they were before the distance learning began, even my struggling students! I was initially drawn in with the curriculum that was already designed to meet standards which took a load off my plate! Once I got in the system, with the amazing support and training I feel like a pro! If you're even questioning using the system, your answer should be yes! - Cody Mooneyhan

I would like to thank KP for their generosity of donating their services during such a difficult time! I know it has helped so many programs across the country. This program is very in depth yet user friendly. The material covered meets DOE standards and can be integrated easily into any curriculum. Pick and choose subjects or use them all. We have seen much success with our students using KP. I look forward to making it part of our curriculum going forward.Nai and Jeff provide the best support I’ve seen. They are always instantly responding to any questions given. Customer service is miles above any I’ve encountered. I continue to learn more about the system and continue to be impressed! If you haven’t explored KP, you really should! Thank you so much again for all the help! - Brad Nehrt

When we left campus at 3 pm on Friday March 13 we were unaware of what life altering affects were right around the corner. Within the hour, we were told we would not report back to school for what was, at the time, suppose to be for two weeks. One of which was our spring break. So, ok, we get an extra week for spring break, cool! We were not three days into our “extended” two week spring break and we were told possibly not for a month. Plan on teaching remotely. I wasn’t too worried because I had already been using google classroom and getting up with my kids would be easy. But then I realized what could I give them other than an ebook (which I was told was for purchase) and worksheets. That was not going to work. Then KP curriculum popped up as a suggestion in one of the many help groups I am a member of. I figured it was just another group wanting to sell something. Boy was I wrong. I contacted Nai and within two days he had my classes set up and all that was left was getting the kids signed on, which was easy to do through google classroom. The best part of this was it was free. So I could try out a new educational tool and it was free to try it out. KP has been a lifesaver and a time saver. My kids are working through the modules, I am getting immediate feedback on how they are mastering the subject and most importantly the customer service is second to none. How many times have you purchased something only to find out that customer service is horrible? Well, not with KP curriculum. I preface my questions anymore with “ me again” and there is Nai or Jeff within, I think I have never waited more than 15 minutes for an answer, if that. No question is a dumb question to them. I highly recommend this program and can’t wait to present it to my district for purchase in the fall. - Sandra Solger

Thank you all and stay safe and healthy.
Sincerely,
Nai Wang
