Teacher Round Table Ep2: A New Hope Recording

We had discussions on a variety of topics for over an hour and a half and everyone loved the discussion.

We even got ZOOM BOMBED by a kid, but fortunately he wasn’t obscene so it was just a bit funny to have him there as we searched to kick him.
Here is the recording from our second Teacher Round Table: A New Hope.

A DOC to Rule them All

One thing we agreed on is the need to have a comprehensive source for best practices.  Many teachers shared their ideas and successes that having this can be used by any teacher seeing ideas.  Here’s the link to the doc and it will be populated by you to share with all.

A Culture Shift???

Matt brought up a very interesting observation on the topic of engagement, saying he’s seen a change in students for the past 2 years.  I said it’s post millennials so what do we call them?  I call them the Video Game Generation, where games were ubiquitous, affecting the way students consume information as affected by motivation.  Other teachers shared their strategies but we all agreed that next year it will be very difficult, even with the enhanced models in KP Compass.
I’ve been studying how video games affect students for the past decade.  Here is a lecture I gave to teachers last year on that concept.

We also spoke about working with farms and a few success stories that will help prepare teachers with food insecurity for her students.  Many more topics are covered.

Bi Monthly Meetings

We decided that this Round Table format is very important and informative so we are going to do it every 2 weeks. It’s almost like a podcast but instead of having one guest speak, we have a dozen or so.  I’m taking a survey on what are the best times for you.  So far 5 PM Eastern seems to work better than mornings.  Let me know what you think?
NEXT ONE JULY 14th!

Round Table Ep1: The Phantom Menace

Yeah, I know, very unoriginal name.  Looking for our first round table?  Here’s that meeting.  It’s a great listen to.

Podcasting?  Would it be of any interest?

I've been considering turning the video into audio pod casts.  Does anyone use podcasts?
